EUROPAN 5: First prize

The interview with Alberto Nicolau and colleague partner Montse Domínguez is held in the NAI. Between the festive award ceremony the evening before in the Van Nellefabriel and a visit in the next afternoon to Almere where, together with the other prize-winners for Almere, they will present their plan to the local press. This was at the invitation of the delegation from Almere which attended the award ceremony and wich, according to the designers, were extremely enthusiastic about the plans. ‘They were particularly interested in the building as a “landmark”‘. The first contacts have been made. Alberto Nicolau, whose English is the best, will conduct the discussion. He pronounces the name of the Alderman almons perfectly: Douwe Halbesma. The designers met each other during a workshop where Carmen Pinós and Rafael Moneo were present, among others, as mentors. Monste Dominguez studied architecture at the University of Barcelona and workked in adittion part-time, first with Carmen Pinós, currently with Juan José Espinos.
